Who We Are

Tails of Freedom (ToF) Rescues, Rehabilitates and Rehomes abandoned and abused companion animals, exploited by the commercial companion animal breeding industry in Sri Lanka.

Through our rescues we aim to create awareness about the cruel realities of the breeding industry, working to improve the lives of animals trapped in its endless cycle of cruelty and neglect.

At ToF, we are more than just a rescue organisation. We are a dedicated team of advocates, educators, and caregivers, driven by the vision of a country where companion animals are free from cruelty, neglect and exploitation.

ToF is a registered organisation in Sri Lanka and audited annually.

Our Work

Community Support

Through our Community Support Programme, we help groups and individuals working at the grassroots level to access much needed vaccines, sterilisations and life saving treatment for animals in their own communities.

Rescue

At Tails of Freedom, every rescue offers a second chance at life and love. We step in to save lives, freeing animals from situations of cruelty and abandonment caused by the unregulated breeding industry in Sri Lanka.

Advocacy

Tails of Freedom is dedicated to educating the public about the hidden cruelties of Sri Lanka’s unethical breeding industry. We engage with multiple government and non-governmental organisations to promote policies and practices that safeguard the welfare of animals.

Through our advocacy, we aim to inspire compassion and drive lasting change for animals, regardless of what role they play in society.

Education

A major reason for the neglect and cruelty of companion animals in Sri Lanka stems from a lack of knowledge and understanding of what it means to be a responsible pet owner.

To address this issue, we partner with a variety of organisations and entities to educate our communities with the hope of changing the future for animals and their people.
